Frequently Asked Questions
This will be my first time in therapy. How do I begin?
Before we begin working together, we offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so that we can introduce ourselves and hear a bit about you. During this phone call, we’ll get a sense of how we would work together, and we’ll share with you honestly about whether or not we believe we can help you. If we decide to go for it, we’ll cover details like fee, appointment availability, and where to access initial paperwork. During your first session, your therapist will ask you a variety of questions to get to know you and what it is that you’d like to get out of this process.
If you’re thinking about starting therapy, we encourage you to give us a call! Even if we don’t end up working together, we’d be more than up to provide you with referrals or to point you in a helpful direction.
How long does therapy last?
Most of our clients meet with one of our therapists for weekly 50-minute sessions and the length of therapy depends on each client’s goals and diagnoses. Our commitment is to help clients feel better and meet their goals as soon as possible! But it’s important to note that therapy does take time and commitment in order for it to work. Most people work with us for 6 months to a year, and some stick around longer. We do also offer brief, short-term services and can talk with you during the phone consultation about what would work best for you.
What is the cost?
Session fees are $200 for a 50 minute therapy session with a licensed psychologist, $160 for a 50 minute therapy session with a psychological associate therapist and $150 for a 50 minute therapy session with an associate marriage and family therapist. We accept credit card, cash, or check and payments are due at the end of each appointment. We have a limited number of sliding-scale openings available and are always happy to provide people with a list of referrals to trusted resources in the community as well.
Do you take insurance?
We are considered out-of-network providers, which means we are not in-network with any insurance companies and do not bill insurance directly. However, your therapist can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement if eligible. We encourage you to contact your insurance company to confirm your out-of-network benefits before we begin our work together.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel an appointment after it has been scheduled, please contact your therapist 48 hours in advance to avoid cancellation fees.
