Catherine Kim, AMFT

Associate Marriage and Family Therapist

Hello, my name is Catherine Kim and I am an associate Marriage and Family therapist at Lightway. I provide individual, couples, and group therapy in Orange County and I am passionate about people and creating a safe and nonjudgemental space for clients to be curious. I like to see therapy as a collaborative partnership where we explore thoughts, emotions and behavior and find deeper meaning together.

I have experience working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, relational wounds, self-harm and identity formation. I enjoy working from a relational psychodynamic approach to build trust and a robust understanding of my clients as a whole. I believe that we are all relational people. Gaining more insight about how we interact with ourselves, others, and the environment can give us a clearer map to deal with our symptoms and problems effectively. Additionally, I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) interventions, which focus on practical tools that support clients in their needs.

I have experience working with teens and young adults as a lay leader in Christian church settings and I have also worked in the university counseling center setting with various age groups and ethnicities.

I work out of my office in Yorba Linda, CA and see people from all over Orange County. I also provide telehealth services for those looking for online video therapy.

Outside of practicing therapy, I enjoy grabbing coffee with friends and watching movies/shows. I work under the clinical supervision of Dr. Brianna Bleeker (PSY32517)
